History of the Rhondda Veterans

The idea for the Veterans Group first came
to mind in November 2004 and was an idea of both Chris Evans and Richard Bevan
that followed the identification that there was a distinct lack of support for
veterans that had suffered Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that was
due to there service. This Idea was then nurtured by Jim Ketchington.

Due to a few problems experienced by the founders of
the Veterans Group, and not being able to find a suitable venue it was
another 4 years before the original idea was realised, and in February 2009 the
first meeting of the Veterans Group took place, which places
the Veterans Group as the first support group in South Wales to
offer this service to ex-service personnel

Unfortunately, during the summer of 2010 our meeting
venue became unavailable to us

and the search for another venue was on...

We are very grateful to the staff of the Blue Skies
Cafe Bar, Lakeside Buildings Clydach Vale, for the offer to use the Terry
Venables Lounge at the Cafe Bar for our weekly meetings.

In November 2010 we decided to form a fully autonomous
group... We selected our trustees. elected our Secretary. Treasurer and
Chairman. All we now needed was a name for the Group.

Christopher Jones already owned the Domain,
rhonddaveterans and kindly let us use this title.

On the 4th of November 2010 .The Rhondda Veterans
Support Group was born.

The group has steadily increased in numbers and
we have continued to offer support to veterans of the Armed Forces and
Emergency Services regardless of age or conflict, Also to
their families within Rhondda Cynon Taff, and surrounding area.

Chris Evans and Jim Kenchington are no longer with Group
We wish them well in all thier future endevours
