The Rhondda Veterans Support Group can give advice on what may be available to you.
Discuss your problems and situation on a 1 to 1 basis, and we may be able to advise and direct you to the most suitable organisation to help.
There are treatments to help people cope with the psychological consequences of exposure to traumatic events, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.
Although at this time we are unable to offer these treatments we are able to refer onto other agencies that can help you and we can offer you the support during this time.
A report on the problems veterans can face has been produced as part of the government’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme. These problems include. Not having contact with local services and feeling that GPs won’t understand their military experience.
The report recommends that local NHS health services liaise with veterans’ organisations so that care can be specially tailored for veterans’ needs.
The important message is to seek help from somewhere.
“Whether it’s a GP, a local veterans’ NHS Unit, Do get help”.
